All food served at Hillel programs and events is kosher. Each Friday night and Saturday afternoon, delicious kosher meals are prepared in Hillel Center kitchens, which is under the supervision of the Vaad Harabanim of Massachusetts. Currently, there is is no full-time kosher meal program at Tufts. However, Hillel and Tufts Dining Services are always open to exploring options and accommodating special needs whenever possible. In the past, we have arranged for hot, prepared kosher meals, as well as other products, such as deli meat, to be available in various locations on campus. Please contact either for more information regarding this new option.

Hot Kosher Meal Plan
Tufts offers a limited hot kosher meal program that is available to all students. The kosher meals are open to students both with and without meal plans either in the dining halls or for takeout. Extra charges may apply.

Students with a meal plan can receive the hot kosher meals in either the Dewick or Carmichael Dining Hall. After receiving the meal, students have access to a microwave in the dining room for heating. For students who are either not on a meal plan, or would rather take their kosher meal out, the meals are also being served through Hodgdon Good To Go.

To enroll in the program, students simply indicate how many meals they want per week and where they would like them served. A combination of different dining halls / take-out is possible. For more information or to enroll in the Hot Kosher Meal option, please contact Julie Lampie 617.627.2833.

Shabbat
Shabbat dinner is served every Friday evening at Hillel. A vegetarian meal option is always available to students who do not eat meat or poultry. Students on meal plans may use one meal as payment for the dinner at Hillel. Otherwise, the cost is $12.50 per meal. Advanced reservations must be made to Hillel each Wednesday by 3 p.m. If you think that you will come to dinner more often than not, consider joining the Shabbat Permanent List and only contact Hillel when you are not attending. In addition, a free kiddush lunch is served after Saturday morning services. Lunch is free. Reservations are not required.

High Holidays
Meals are served on Rosh Hashanah as well as the Yom Kippur pre-fast and break- the-fast meals. Tickets are required. Contact Hillel for more information.

Passover
Passover may be observed at Tufts in a number of ways. Hillel sponsors seders for both the first and second nights of Passover. Students must purchase tickets in advance in order to attend the seders. Students enrolled in the meal plan are entitled to a reduced ticket price when one meal is used towards payment. Students observing Pesach will find a variety of kosher for Passover foods in the dining halls. Our complimentary Passover buffets feature a variety of matzo, gelfilte fish, American and mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, chopped liver, salad dressings, jams, hard boiled eggs, tuna, cottage cheese, yogurt, and macaroons.

For students wishing to follow stricter observance, please stay posted for current information on Hillel's Passover web page and in the dining halls.

We hope the information provided has been helpful. If you have additional questions regarding Kosher dining on campus, please contact the Tufts Dining dietitian, Julie Lampie, R.D. or 617-627-2833). Questions regarding Hillel and its programs should be directed to Tufts Hillel (Hillel-Center@tufts.edu or 617-627-3242).
