Women of the Wall with Lesley Sachs, Executive Director
The Tufts Students for Two States coalition is honored to host Lesley Sachs, the Executive Director of the Women of the Wall, on Novemeber 29th at Interfaith Center for a presentation and discussion.
Women of the Wall is a group of Jewish women from Israel and around the world who strive to achieve women's equality at the Western Wall (the Kotel) in Jerusalem, Judaism's holiest site. Some rights they fight for are wearing tallitot (prayer shawls) and praying and reading from the Torah.
Lesley Sachs was the 2014 recipient of the NCJW Jewel Bellush Outstanding Israeli Feminist award and was one of the founding members of “Isha L’isha – Haifa’s Feminist Center.” She worked for 10 years in the Israel Women’s Network and served as executive director of the Israel Religious Action Center (IRAC), vice president of the World Union For Progressive Judaism, and founding director of the project Kesher Israel.
TS4TS is a Hillel-led coalition made up of Tufts Friends of Israel, J Street U Tufts, Visions of Peace, and Tufts Hillel.
