Overview
The primary purpose of the Granoff Family Hillel Center at
Tufts University is to serve the religious, cultural, educational
and social needs of the Tufts Jewish community. While this
community is understood to include undergraduate and graduate
students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni and parents,
the Center is first and foremost dedicated to the programming
for Tufts Jewish students through the Hillel Foundation at
Tufts University.
Secondarily, the Center may also be used for activities that
build understanding and foster dialogue between different
cultural, ethnic, racial and religious groups as well as for
broad-based community activities not connected with Jewish
life at Tufts that are consistent with the character and principal
use of the building.
When school is not in session the Center may be available
for rental to members of the Tufts community for private functions.

Rental Guidelines
& Procedures
Once a date is decided and approved, an Agreement for Use
of Facilities must be signed and returned with a 50% deposit
to hold your space. The balance of the usage fee, excluding
charges incurred by auxiliary services (see Auxiliary Services
below), is due prior to the use of the Center. A damage deposit
may be required.
The Hillel staff makes routine decisions regarding the use
of the facility. Any requests for usage that are deemed sensitive
must be discussed and approved by a vote of the student Executive
Committee and the Operations Committee of the Foundation’s
Board of Directors.
The following rate schedule applies to a maximum (7) hour
period. The rental fee includes only the use of the room(s),
tables, chairs and lecterns. All rooms have a standard set-up.
Any variation from those standards, as well as any additional
equipment requirements are the responsibility of the renter.
Food arrangements must be made directly with a caterer as
outlined in the Agreement. In addition, if the Center is scheduled
when Hillel would normally be closed, the renter will be assessed
a $10/hour charge to cover increased security charges.

Observance
of Dietary Laws (Kashrut)
All food entering and served in the Center must be kosher
(observance of Jewish dietary laws) in accordance with the
standards of the Rabbinical Council of New England's Kashruth
Commission. The kashrut in the Center kitchens under the supervision
of the Commission is inviolable. Users of the facility may
use only those caterers that are approved by the Commission.
All food arrangements must be discussed with and approved
by the Associate Director and the Kashrut Supervisor. A list
of approved caterers is available upon request.
